Vinyasa means union between breath and movement. Every movement is lead by an inhalation or exhalation. The time you move, is the time you breathe. Your body follows this natural rhythm of breath that soothes your nervous system.
The Power Yoga flow will torch your calories, tone, strengthen and rinse your body, clear your mind and leave you with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. Be prepared to SHINE!
Steady postures and deep breath-work emphasize balance of body, mind and spirit while enhancing flexibility, stamina, and muscular endurance. Modifications are offered for all postures. A guided relaxation closes the session, leaving you feeling stretched, relaxed, and centred. Seniors are welcome.
Meditative and restorative classes are equally appropriate for beginners and experienced yogis. Athletes, runners, dancers, people who like to exercise at the gym will be benefited as well; this practice helps to release soreness in muscles and protects from future injuries.

MeditationMeditation relieves stress, increases mental clarity and wellbeing. Clinical studies have shown that meditation stimulates parts of the brain whose activity is associated with lowered stress response and decrease in anxiety. When practiced regularly meditation helps us to maintain our psychological and physical balance, and reduces the risk of many stress related illnesses such as heart disease, Alzheimer's, IBS, fibromyalgia, immune deregulation syndromes and cancer. The type of meditation that we teach at our studio is called Vipassana meditation. "Vipassana is the oldest of Buddhist meditation practices. The method comes directly from the Satipatthana Sutta, a discourse attributed to the Buddha himself. Vipassana is a direct and gradual cultivation of mindfulness or awareness."
Nevertheless, Vipassana is a gentle and simple technique that doesn't involve any special rituals or arrangements. What we only need are determination and discipline. Attending our meditation classes you will learn all techniques step by step so that, you can develop your own life long practice.

Soshinkan Shindo Ryu Karate
Fitness Group Classes
Soshinkan Shindo Ryu Karate
Soshinkan Shindo Ryu Karate, taught by Kenji Ushiro sensei, focuses on the development and acquisition of a healthy body, a harmonious spirit and a peaceful heart-mind through Okinawan Karate that has 600 years of history. Breath at the core, the ultimate objective is to harmonize with the opponent, neutralizing his strength and controlling him through techniques from a set sequence of movements called Kata. The focus is to become proficient in Karate by overcoming the challenges against oneself. The process and effort towards this achievement enhances oneself, enabling these abilities to come alive as they are used in daily life.
Instructor Sota Yuyama
Sota trains in traditional Okinawan karate called Soshinkan Shindo Ryu Karate, taught by Kenji Ushiro sensei from Japan. After 20 years of experience participating in various martial arts, Sota felt limited by conventional fitness oriented training as the result of a major car accident at a young age. In 2007 he met his sensei Kenji Ushiro at a karate seminar in Los Angeles. There he experienced the technique based on harmony and neutralization and sensei's method of internal energy "Ki" had proven to him that true technique does not require muscular strength. Since then, Sota has been following Kenji Ushiro sensei when he comes to North America for seminars in New York and Seattle. He also attends Ushiro sensei's seminar in Japan once or twice a year. In October of 2012 Sota received a black belt from Ushiro sensei and his training group in Vancouver was officially recognized as a sub-branch of Soshin kan. He is the third person to receive a black belt from Kenji Ushiro sensei outside of Japan.
Over the years, he has come to realize that Ushiro sensei's lesson is that true training lies in execution of a harmonious spirit in everyday life. He believes that the lesson he learned from Ushiro sensei will benefit everyone to enrich his or her life, and it will create a positive effect on society. Sota welcomes anyone who would like to learn Ushiro sensei's karate. Pre-register. Check Schedule for Day and Time.
